Round 15, Sat 10th Feb, 2017 - KO 2.30pm
After the Knights clinically despatched Nottingham on their home turf (edit, @ Lay Bay) 06-27, the Knights have much to look forward to for the rest of the season. Nottingham were the team in the Championship that most closely matched the Knights’ performance in 2017. Don’t forget that Nottingham beat second-placed Ealing Trailfinders 28-27 on 19th November, so the Knights can pat themselves in the back for a job well-done and opening the 2018 Championship campaign in style.
The Knights are fifth after recording six wins, one draw and seven defeats. London Scottish are eleventh after four wins, one draw and nine losses. They are equal on points with Hartpury College in tenth and so are playing for tenth place. Possibly ninth because Richmond are only three points above.
Hartpury College (10th) lie in wait for Nottingham (7th) at their College.
Richmond (9th) welcome bottom-placed Rotherham Titans to their plastic pitch at Trailfinders Sports Club, fresh after the Titan’s first win of the season.
The Scottish exiles will feel comfortable knowing that they are twenty points above the Titans but mindful that there are potentially 35 points available to the Titans. Four bonus points wins for the Titans with four no point losses for Scottish would see the Titans rise above them.
Scottish Fly Half Jake Sharp is the fifth highest points scorer in the Championship, he sits one point above our own Simon Humberstone.
Full BackWing Craig Holland and Centre Ross Neal are Scottish’s leading try-scorers, level with the Knights’ Tom James.
Looking at other games this weekend whose results impact our league position gives me great pleasure on this occasion because we can only look up to teams that we could overtake; we can’t be caught in one game. Jersey Reds and Nottingham, in sixth and seventh, are both six points below us.
Friday 9th February
Bedford Blues (4th, 1 point above) host Jersey Reds (6th) at Goldington Road
Sunday 11th February
Carnegie (3rd, 5 points and 3 wins above) travel to Cornwall to play the Cornish Pirates (8th) at The Mennaye
We will know after we’ve played the Scottish exiles if we are fourth or fifth before Carnegie play the Pirates but we can’t catch Carnegie fully, only on the number of league points because they’ve won three more games than us.
