Friday 17th Feb KO 19:45 Lady Bay Sports Ground
After last week’s 21-29 loss to Ealing Trailfinders, the Knights are still third but now only four points above the Trailfinders. Last Sunday Nottingham travelled to the Madjeski Stadium to face unbeaten London Irish. Unsurprisingly they lost but to lose 60-14 will leave them smarting from that margin of defeat. “Two second half tries from Murray McConnell and Darryl Veenendaal were all Nottingham could muster, as they were outmuscled by a dominant Exiles side…” (Nottingham website)
This loss leaves Nottingham eighth in the Championship, five points above Bedford Blues and three points below Jersey Reds.
Nottingham have scored 280 points (ave. 20/game) and conceded 382 (ave. 27/game) , the Knights have scored 360 (ave. 26/game) and conceded 301 points (ave. 22.5/game).
Statbunker has us as having played 15 games and Nottingham 13 games (now 14) but I believe that we have both played 14 games, so I won’t use their scoring stats. The above figures are from the RFU.
Hooker Antonio ‘TJ’ Harris is Nottingham’s leading try-scorer, next up is Scrum Half Murray McConnell, Fly Half/Centre Lawrence Rayner is their points kicker.
On Saturday 18th Feb Ealing Trailfinders (4th, 4 points below) ) welcome Richmond (11th) to their Trailfinders Sports Club.
If Trailfinders win without the bonus point and we lose, we will both have equal league points. Trailfinders will leapfrog us to third courtesy of the game they drew that we lost.
Second-placed Carnegie entertain fifth-placed Cornish Pirates (6 points below with a game in hand) at Headingly.
