We are delighted to announce the signing of Tongan international fly half Latiume Fosita.
Fosita joins up with the Knights squad today and could possibly feature as early as this Saturday’s clash with Jersey.
At just 22-year-old Latiume has already made eight international appearances for his native Tonga scoring 29 points to date, including all of his side’s 12 points in their autumn international clash versus Scotland at Kilmarnock last November.
‘Ume’, who is also capable at full back joins having enjoyed a successful 2014 campaign in the ITM Cup with Northland, aiding them to reach the Championship division semi-finals. Fosita is already familiar with a couple of the Knights squad having linked up with Tomasi Palu on international duty and played alongside WillGriff John at Northland.
Fosita spent time in South Africa prior to his move to New Zealand and turned out for Wits University in the 2013 Varsity Cup tournament. He made his ITM Cup debut the same year and was called up to the Tongan squad that November, making his international bow against Romania. Standing at 6ft 2 and almost 100 KG, Ume cuts an imposing figure and has signed at Castle Park until the end of the 2014/15 season giving Griff another option not only at fly-half but full back.
Speaking on his arrival this morning the 22-year-old said. “I am excited to be joining Doncaster for the rest of the season, where I will be looking to assist the team to gain some winning momentum in the second half of the season.
“It will be great to see familiar faces like Willgriff John and Tom Palu who I have played with in recent seasons.
“I am also looking forward to meeting the Management, players and the rest of the Doncaster family in the near future.”
