Hi All,
Can I start off by congratulating the squad on their excellent performance away at Pirates last weekend in very poor conditions They gained a well deserved victory which I am sure was enjoyed by those who travelled or those, like me, who watched the match on Pirates TV feed.
As I’m sure you will all be aware that our next away fixture is at Caldy on the Wirral on Saturday, December 23rd and, given the proximity to Christmas, I would like to confirm our booking with Buckley’s by noon on the Monday before so they can rotate their drivers if they need to.
Those who went Caldy at the end of last season will recall that our coach had to park some way from their main pitch which caused problems to the less mobile of us. I have therefore spoken to Emma, their Club Manager, and she has arranged for our coach to drop off and collect next door to their clubhouse before returning to their main car park during the match.
Our coach will depart from Buckley’s depot in Blaxton at 9am and, after our usual pick ups in Branton, Cantley and Armthorpe, should arrive at the club at 9.30am. From there it will pick up opposite the Winning Post on Balby Road at about 9.50am before heading west to Caldy. The coach will leave Caldy for the return journey 30 minutes after the end of the game. If you are leaving your car at the club please do so on the limestone car park.
The cost of the coach is £750 which, based on no supporter having to pay more than £30, will mean we will need 25 to breakeven. If we can get 30 supporters travelling on the coach, the cost will drop to £25 each or £20 if we can get that figure up to 38.
We will be running our usual raffle and Guess the Score competition and volunteers o help run both are welcome. Our last away match Guess the Score competition was not won and, as this took the rolling prize up to over £500, this will now revert to £150 (plus whatever we take on this match) in accordance with past practice with the balance reverting to the coach fund to help offset the cost of the London games.
To reserve your place on the coach please text me back by noon on Monday, December 18th on 079 7711 2706. As usual I will update the numbers who have signed up in the Away Match section of the Knights Forum.
If don’t see you at Caldy, I hope you have a good Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
Regards,
John
