COVENTRY COACH
Hi Everyone,
Hope you all enjoyed last Saturday’s home victory over Nottingham. Apart from our initial opening 6 minutes when we conceded 2 tries, I thought our defence was excellent with some big hits going in. It was also great to see a crowd of just under 1900 when one considers how bad the weather was.
Thanks also to Mick May for organising our first Tossers’ Lunch of the season which was attended by almost 90 supporters. Unfortunately wokery has now reached Castle Park and our announcer had to use the Tossers’ full name instead of our acronym. What is the world coming to!
Our next away match is on Saturday, November 18th away at Coventry. Even though they surprisingly (in my view) lost away at Ampthill, they have a strong squad so we need to have as many of us there as possible to give the Knights our usual vociferous support.
As normal, we will be putting on our supporters coach. This will cost us £690 so, based on our maximum charge per head of £30, we will need to have 23 on board to cover this. However, if we can get that number up to 28 adults we can afford to reduce the cost to £25. Even better, if we can get our numbers up to 35, the cost per head will come down to £20.
So, our coach will leave Buckley’s garage in Blaxton at 11.00am and, after our usual pickups in Auckley, Blaxton, Cantley and Armthorpe, should arrive at Castle Park by 11.3am. If you are planning to leave your car there please use the Limestone one. From there we will proceed to pick up opposite the Winning Post on Balby Road by noon before we set off south down the M1 to Coventry for a 3pm kick off. As I know quite a few of our supporters enjoy a drink at the pub next to the ground I suggest we set off back 45 minutes after the match which will probably be around 5.30pm.
If you wish to book a seat on the coach please text me back on 079 7711 2706 as soon as possible. I will keep posting updates on numbers on our Knights Forum. I have already had 8 supporters put their names down before sending out this text.
As usual volunteers to help with our raffle and Guess the Score competition will be very welcome. This week’s Guess the Score should take the prize over £500 so, in accordance with previous practice, if it is not won it will revert to £150 for the next away game with the difference of £350 being transferred to the coach fund to help offset the losses we inevitably make on our two London fixtures.
Regards
John
