Premiership Cup Round 2, Saturday 16th September, KO 3.00pm Richmond Athletic Ground.
Round 2 of the Premiership Cup sees the Knights play a team from another group, this time Group C. The Knights travel to their Richmond Athletic Ground (RAG) to play London Scottish.

Back 3 Will Talbot-Davies from Coventry Rugby.
Centre Will Simonds has signed full time after joining them mid-way through last season. Will is an ex-Wasps centre with some experience of playing in Australia.

The exile’s first Premiership Cup game was at home against Championship winners Jersey Reds last Saturday which they lost 0-43. Red’s tries were scored across the field, so no specific positional Scottish weakness was evident.
The Knights welcomed Cambridge RFC to Castle Park. Jack Digby and Sam Olver were named co-Captains a few days before the game. The Knights defended their Castle against Cambridge 38-11. The first game of the season understandably started slowly and scoring didn’t begin until the second quarter. The Knights’ first try was scored by winger George Simpson in an unusual scenario, he peeled of the back of a set piece to dot down. These kinds of tries are typically scored by the scrum half or by forwards. Next came a well-worked try; Rhys Tait initially broke into the Cambridge 22, only to be tap-tackled just short of the whitewash. His pass from the floor to Alex Dolly subsequently saw Dolly tackled nearly as close to the Bridge try-line. Sam Olver collected the ball and gave a long, spiralling pass out to Maliq Holden on the wing after spotting a space for the winger to exploit. With the clock in the red before the break Rhy Tait charged through a gap to score the third try. The bonus point try came soon after half time; Sam Olver cleverly gave the impression that he was going to kick to the corner for a line out but instead chipped to George Simpson, who collected and passed to AJ Cant for the run-in. Just minutes later AJ Cant scored his second try of the game after a fast break through the line in the middle of the field from Alex Dolly set the move going. Recycling on the edge of the visitor’s 22, it wasn’t long before AJ Cant had the ball in hand with space to run it in on the wing. Finally on 72 minutes Seb Nagle-Taylor broke down the wing and delayed his pass to Maliq Holden to draw the tackler so that Maliq could score unopposed.
