Championship rugby recommences for all. Jersey Reds welcome Doncaster Knights

Round 15, Jersey Reds v Doncaster Knights, Stade Santander International, Jersey. KO 3pm
Jersey Reds (Les Roge dé Jèrri)...
…were known as the Jersey Rugby Football Club until the start of the 2016–17 season, when they changed their name to the Jersey Reds. Stade Santander International is at St Peter Port, near Jersey Airport. The Reds’ pitch is approximately located in what was the middle of the Jersey Bowl carpark.
Recent head to head performances
The match on 25/10/19 is one the Knights want to forget, being ‘nilled’ 27-0 in Jersey.
Since then, the last three meetings have favoured the Knights, with the most recent, three-point win being one that could have gone to either side.
15/02/20 Doncaster Knights 38-10 Jersey Reds
10/04/21 Jersey Reds 10-22 Doncaster Knights
9/10/21 Doncaster Knights 27-24 Jersey Reds
Last time out
No games were played last weekend and nothing to report from the previous weekend because Knights v Bedford Blues was ‘covid-cancelled’ and Jersey Reds had their BYE with their being an odd number of teams in the Championship this season. On Boxing Day, the Knights beat London Welsh 19-39 and the Reds lost 28-19 in Bedford against the Blues. Bedford’s Goldington Road home was sold out for the festive boxing day clash and travelling supporters know how vocal and partisan the Blue’s home supporters are. In the final ten minutes, Jersey blew their chance of heading top of the league when they had ex-Knight scrum-half James Mitchell and Harry Simmons (scrum-half/wing) sent to the sin bin in quick succession for deliberate knock ons. A Blues’ converted try took away Jersey’s losing bonus point.
Red danger men
After dotting down ten times hooker Eoghan Clarke is the Championship’s equal top try-scorer with back row Guy Thomson as their second-highest try-scorer with half a dozen tries over eleven games played. Clarke has only not scored a try in one game but Thomson has also scored more than one try every two games on average.
Hooker Antonio ‘TJ’ Harris has also scored four. This means that a hooker has scored 14 tries over eleven games, so Knights be wary of the hooker or a back row peeling off to score from the set piece.
Saturday’s game
Is a game that the Reds will want to win after their hard-fought, slim defeat at Castle Park.
The Reds have the fifth best points-scored at home figure and they have conceded the fourth fewest number of tries in the Championship. Jersey are two points below Donny with a game in hand. The Reds have lost three games the same as the Knights but they have also drawn a game, however their four extra bonus points equate to a won game. They have notched up a bonus point on all but two games they have played this season. Granted two of their bonus points were by having a losing score within seven points but they still have the second highest number of try-bonus points.
Elsewhere in the championship:
Coventry (8) v Hartpury (6, 1 game in hand)
Nottingham (10, 1 game in hand) v Ealing Trailfinders (2, 2 games in hand) PLAYED ON FRIDAY 14th
London Scottish (11, played 1 game extra) v Richmond (9, 2 games in hand)
Bedford Blues (5, 1 game in hand) v Ampthill (7, played 1 game extra)
