The new restrictions announced a couple of weeks ago mean that we won’t be able to attend games for the foreseeable future. Our Saturday Match Day Rewinds provided by John Lowe have, in my opinion, been a great success. With today’s technology it is feasible to do the same thing with live streaming of games when the new season starts. This service could be a new revenue stream for the club.
It is being done already for Premiership and European games to BT Sport subscribers. Knights season ticket holders could get the service as part of their membership package and non Season Ticket holders could pay a £5 fee per game (home and away). The club would have to set a suitable amount. As with the games submitted by John Lowe, one camera would suffice but could be enhanced with more than one camera and an inexpensive video mixing device. The approximate cost of 2 x 4K wireless cameras, 1 Steadicam rig and a 32 input video live stream mixing desk is under £1000.00 from Amazon. I’m sure we have the technical skills to do this and funds could be raised with another Crowdfunding project. If this is not desirable by the club, at the very least we could record new games and present them on YouTube as done already by John Lowe.
I made this suggestion to Michael Casey after watching Boris make his announcement on TV. As it stands it may be years before we can allow crowds to attend games (I hope not 🤞), so something should be done if we want to continue watching our beloved game. Steve Lloyd aired his view that he would not condone playing Championship games without supporters present but things were different then so we will have to do something soon. If it’s good enough to keep the Premiership ticking over, it should be good enough for us. Another idea is to create a delivery system to get Cow Pie and other Food and drink to supporters (Or pick up from the club) which would help in the continuation of employment at Castle Park. We have the facilities so why not. Delivering through Just Eat would further increase revenue for the club. Don’t forget from little acorns ......
These suggestions could even continue if things get back to normal. I and all the supporters are desperate to see Donny play again and all now know that Coronavirus is not going to be a short term crisis. If we can’t go to Castle Park I can’t think of anything better than watching Donny Knights play whilst eating Cow Pie, Chips and Peas and drinking four or five pints of Cask Ale (while on a Zoom meeting with my friends of course).
Michael has replied positively to this but I wanted to hear the consensus on the Forum.
