It's not just the yellow cards, sometimes when you're under pressure they're unavoidable or even necessary...
It's the raft of penalties given away in the oppo half and then on halfway way that's just gifting territory and possession to them!!! We have a very dangerous back three but we just aren't making the opposition kick it back to them enough. We should be more patient around the ruck in these areas, it's killing us.
The trial tackle rules haven't helped these cup games but I'd hoped they would be free flowing games with teams keen to play (the weather hindered this v Nottingham and Knights possibly over played) but the last two home games have been like pulling teeth...if they were the first two games you'd seen would you go back???
Link outs not straight or not 5, reset scrums and free kicks with the scrum option taken, refs not lenient in poor weather...all adding up alongside the poor discipline to minimal rugby and minimal entertainment.
We've chopped and changed in midfield - if we can get Pitman/Stedman at 8, James and Morath at half back and Owen and Clark fit in the centres and stick with that we'll have something to build on.
Let's also not get carried away about Leeds dramatic form up turn just yet, they still have single figures and if we beat them on 29th it will be tough for them to catch us at least in the second half of the season.
List Hunter Quigley Civetta Challinor Tyrell Hills Stedman James Morath Wilson Owen Clark McColl Jarvis /
Mayhew Hislop Sproston Eames Pitman Senioli Cowell
Is a good 22 if we can get it on the park and that still leaves experience in reserve.
The longer the Knights can keep the ball in play the better our set piece will be but we've got to make the oppo play their way up field or risk kicking poorly to our danger men!
