Ealing Trailfinders preview sponsored by Steadfast Industrial Conveyor Belts (www.steadfast.uk.com)
Round Four, Castle Park Sat 23rd Sep, 2017 - 02:30pm
@ealingtfrugby have appointed a new head coach ahead of the 2018-19 [HASH]hampRugby season. (Ben Ward Player/Coach who has spent most of career with Ealing.)
““Ealing have spent massive during the summer, but we’ll look to give the same effort and performance that brought the victory at Castle Park last time.” (DRFC website)
Ealing Trailfinders have had the most player movements pre-season in the Championship with 29 players in and 22 players leaving.

Last time out the Trailfinders beat Carnegie 42-24 and the Knights beat Richmond 28-17. Both teams have won two and lost one of their opening three games but the Trailfinders have won two try bonus points to the Knights’ single losing bonus point. This leaves the Trailfinders one extra league point above us. This will hopefully become three or four league points below after the game. There’s very little points scored: conceded difference, just five points; Trailfinders have scored five more points but conceded ten more. So marginal advantage Knights.
Unsurprisingly Ex-Premiership side London Irish beat Trailfinders 20-7 in the first game of the season.
In Trailfinder’s last game they scored five tries thanks to a double from Rayn Smid (Cap, Back Row) as well as scores from James Cordy Redden (Wing), Pat Howard (Centre) and Jordy Reid (Flanker) to get their second consecutive victory. Four were converted by Peter Lydon (Fly Hal/Full Back) plus Lydon added three penalties).
Smid scored after just two minutes; a Lydon break through the middle was brought down and recycled to Smid. Another close range Smid try was scored after ten minutes; this time Lewis Jones made the break up to the five metre line. Cordy Redden scored on the 18 minute mark following a Pat Howard break down the wing. The bonus point try was the first score of the second half, following a lineout Andrew Durutalo (Flanker) made a “characteristic run through the defence” before drawing the last defender and offloading to Pat Howard to run in from outside the 22. Man of the Match Jordy Reid scored their final try by supporting to score under the posts.
Kendo said on the website, “…A lot of people will have written us off already against Ealing in a way the pressure has gone off us, I think we can enjoy the build up of the week and really enjoy the match at Castle Park.”
Let’s hope the squad are enjoying the build-up and will enjoy beating the Trailfinders at Castle Park. Last season we overcame a 57-14 defeat last November at Trailfinders |sports Ground to win 50-19 at Castle Park. That hopefully piles on the pressure to our opposition.
