The Knights return to action in Pool Four of the British & Irish cup with an away game at Goldington Road. This game will hopefully mark the return to successful form that the Knights have had in the Cup (unbeaten) and then the Knights will aspire to continue the winning streak on to league action.
Bedford Blues are the only team in Group Four of the B & I Cup to have not won a game yet. Their scoring record isn’t vastly different to Cross Keys’ but Cross Keys have won one game. The Blues have scored one try bonus point and two losing bonus points in their three games played, so a creditable losing record! Unusually all four teams have won three bonus points in their first three games played.
I can’t find scoring records for the B & I Cup but in the Championship; the well-known Full Back James Pritchard has been their danger man with the boot and with a strike rate of over 84%, Pritchard has the third best strike rate of a regular kicker in the Championship. To put it into numbers, Prichard has only missed one of his conversion attempts and two penalty kicks in the league competition.
Blues’ Winger Dean Adamson is equal fifth in the list of the Championship’s top try-scorers and Pritchard is only one try behind. To put it into some perspective, Michael Hills is our top try-scorer and equal 32nd on the list.
Pool Four:
Doncaster Knights; won 3, 25 oops 15 points
Cornish Pirates; won 2, lost 1, 11 points
Cross Keys; won 1 lost 2, 7 points
Bedford Blues; lost 3, 3 points
The Cornish Pirates travel to Wales to play Cross Keys
Next week we travel to Cornwall to play the Pirates and then the final game of group action sees Castle Park host Cross Keys.
DONNY, DONNY, DONNY…
