RFU have announced that they are intending to slash funding to all Championship clubs by 50% for next season and possibly phasing out all central funding thereafter. Massive shortfalls for the club in budgeting for next season by the sound of things and very worrying for all concerned! Typical support from the RFU for their Tier 1 League below Premiership - unbelievable! (Perhaps not?)

Also a good piece in the Guardian. What sort of squad will we have next season ? Playing budget to be cut , RFU funding slashed !! Makes you wonder , Bodes is gonna have his work cut out , unless we can do some crowdfunding.
It is worth noting that the funding cut comes not from RFU per se but from the contribution made by Premiership Rugby Ltd, who prefer to fund an improved "A" League as their player development pathway.
Also worth noting that Championship Clubs recently turned down an RFU offer to extend present funding levels for 3 more years, seeking more money. Look where that got us!
Assuming the lost cash is not being replaced by generous donors, where does that place our squad negotiations for next season? Or even our professional status?
Championship clubs appear to have been well and truly screwed over. PRL through stealth ringfencing, will firmly shut the door when Sarries go back up after their punishment relegation. The players who will be made to go part time by their respective clubs, I feel sorry for as they have young families to support. I suppose that we have to be thankful for the pennies they are going to provide us next season. Disgusted!
Read the article in today's "Times".It is an absolute disgrace and to me means a real closed shop is imminent as the top end of all rugby is selling it's soul to CVC venture capitalists. We must keep buying season tickets as I see mine somewhat as a donation as not living in Donny any more only can go to half the matches. What can the Championship clubs do?The PRL clubs have pillaged the best Championship players and have the clubs been properly recompensed? I am very angry.
The PRL are more interested in money then the game and players, the RFU are also singing from the same hymn sheet, money means more than the game. The clubs below the premiership are irrelevant. Championship clubs have no clout so why should the games rulers take any notice, what a way to destroy a glorious game
It really is a disgrace. Our only replies unfortunately would be a drop in the ocean.
Don’t go to Twickkers. Don’t let them have your money. But Internationals are massively over subscribed so that doesn’t help. Don’t take DR from Premiership clubs, we have to pay them let them have a load of gym monkeys doing nothing, but then we may get relegated. (I know not this season).
The PLR have really shafted us
Winning isn't everything, it just makes the beer taste better,
One solution for consideration could be to join the Premiership and Championship together as 'Professional Rugby' with two Divisions (somewhat akin to the French system) and ring fence that entity? Apart possibly for Hartpury (a rather different entity) it looks as if the Championship will still be a pretty level playing field? In order to better England's international standing should the RFU finance Academies (linked to Premiership Clubs) or Championship sides? It all started to go wrong, in the early days of professionalism), when the Clubs were allowed to dominate rather than Counties and Regions. Just imagine the interest and quality at the final of the North vs. London in the Regional Cup (c.f. Curry Cup). Plus change, plus meme chose?
There appear to be concurrent threads on this topic, this and one in Knights Chat? Maybe Academies and the 'A' League have been more successful in producing 'the goods'? Maybe put the Premiership and Championship into one big hat, centrally controlled with two divisions (rather like the Frogs)?
Quite few clubs have made formal statements but I saw this from Coventry getting encouragement by @rugbyandthelaw to be widely retweeted this morning which I had not seen before- a proposal put together by a few Championship Clubs

kenner: Just a Question if I may? Why after a season and on to the second can we not get an actual picture of Aaron Carpenter on the players site? Did not someone just take team photos?
Sept 21, 2017 19:35:08 GMT
Sir Spicious: I fear there are rumours that Aaron may, in fact, be a vampire and as such his image does not reflect in mirrors nor can it be captured in a photo. I should, however, warn you this may be fake news.

donnyknightsfan: that was absolutely dire today almost from start to finish apart from a spell in the 2nd half when we looked OK. players don't look motivated enough to me. they need a kick up the backside. the next two games v Bedford and Irish look a tough ask now.

donnyknightsfan: after yesterday's showing a new attacking coach and structure is needed ASAP. our attack is really poor. why don't we ever look to create space?. you're not going to beat championship defences by just running straight at them.
